Not bad, to start a review of Alessandra Eramo’s latest release ROARS BANGS BOOMS like this!
Fantastic work. Alessandro is an Italian ex-pat, based in Berlin. For this record, she has chosen eight words from Russolo’s Art Of Noise essay, and put together a brain boggling vocal suite to embody each of them in turn. In live performance it seems there are also field recordings used to create the eruptive whole, but here I’m pretty sure it’s all glottal. Sounds almost like a musique concrète collage made from that Folkways LP about the removal of the larynx. But it’s not!
