MOVES#142 »Decolonizing Music, Rewriting Global Pop Music History« Global Pop First Wave – Label presentation & launch „Saz Beat Vol. 3“ 21. March 2016, 8pm
Image Movement is delighted to host an evening with Holger Lund.
Holger Lund aka DJ Jaywalk is running the Berlin-based record-label Global Pop First Wave.
Global Pop First Wave is set in the field of music-archeological work in the context of a revaluation of non-Western pop beyond any colonialist hierarchy. Hence evaluating this kind of popular music not as second order but as first class. The focus of the GPFW-releases lies on geographical areas such as Turkey, Uzbekistan or Mongolia – musical scenes to which the Western-centric historiography of pop music paid little to no attention or, if so, usually in a rather derogatory way.
Holger Lund will introduce his label and present »Saz Beat Vol. 3«, the currently released third and final chapter of a series with Turkish funk– and rock–music from the 1960s and 1970s.
Admission is free. ……………………..……………………..……………………..………………… Image Movement | Artist Films, Films on Art, Artists Records Oranienburger Strasse 18 | D-10178 Berlin | Mo–Sa 11am–7pm Tel +49-30 – 308 819 780 | Fax +49-30 – 288 840 352 info@imagemovement.de | www.imagemovement.tumblr.com
